Healthcare Democracy in Pharmacies: Key Issues

Renaloo, a patient advocacy group that supports people living with kidney disease or kidney failure, was founded in 2002 following the passage of the “Kouchner Law,” which laid the groundwork for healthcare democracy in France.

Kidney failure is spreading at an alarming rate worldwide. It affects nearly 10% of the French population, and its impact on patients’ lives is significant in the end-stage. In the end-stage, it is the most costly condition for the social security system.

How can community pharmacists serve both as local healthcare professionals and as public health advocates?
