Expensive Medications: Challenges for Pharmacies

March 15, 2026
Professional Forum
The Professional Forum's Policy Agenda

Expensive medications are becoming a permanent fixture in community pharmacies and are disrupting the balance of the pharmacy. Access to treatments, HAS requirements, price regulation by the CEPS, and the community-hospital interface: dispensing is becoming a highly constrained process. High-value inventory, traceability, billing, and financial risks now weigh heavily on the daily operations of community pharmacies. This roundtable offers a multifaceted, factual, and candid perspective on the growing responsibilities assumed by community pharmacies; its goal is to understand the rules of the game and identify the conditions for sustainable and secure care delivery.
