In 2015, The Shandrani Lab is launching its first line of cosmetics with a clear goal: to finally give textured hair the care it deserves. But this story begins a little earlier, at a pivotal moment for millions of women and men around the world.
Between 2014 and 2015, the "back-to-natural" movement, known as "Nappy," gained significant momentum. Originating in the United States, it encouraged people with kinky, curly, and coily hair to stop using harsh chemical treatments and embrace their natural texture. A collective awareness emerged: textured hair should be celebrated, cared for, and respected.
Very quickly, however, a problem arises. While there is a clear desire to care for one’s hair, the range of suitable products remains virtually nonexistent. Aside from a few specialty stores, mainstream retailers offer few solutions for these demanding hair textures. Insufficient hydration, overly harsh formulas, and a lack of targeted treatments: textured hair remains largely overlooked by the cosmetics industry.
Yet nearly 60% of the world's population has textured hair.
It was in response to this reality that Le Labo Shandrani was founded, with a clear mission: to create an inclusive, expert brand capable of addressing the real needs of this long-neglected hair type.

Building on this initial success, the laboratory is gradually developing comprehensive expertise in textured hair through four complementary product lines.
Easy Pouss, a product designed to strengthen and promote hair growth, is joined by Aloe Locks, designed for maintaining dreadlocks and protective hairstyles, and then Hibiscus Curl was created to meet the specific needs of wavy, wavy-textured, and curly hair, providing hydration, definition, and softness. Finally, Aloe Locks Hibiscus, enriched with fortifying and beautifying ingredients.
The laboratory was founded on a solid foundation of hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the hair care industry. For many years, the founding teams worked directly with clients with textured hair, observing their recurring issues: excessive hair loss, traction alopecia, a weakened scalp, and a lack of suitable solutions in mainstream retail channels.
These findings guided the development of each formula, with a consistent commitment to quality, safety, and effectiveness.
Today, Le Labo Shandrani is a French brand specializing in textured hair, available in 21 countries and recognized for its natural, ethical, and effective hair care products.
